Common Questions

Will I be awake during surgery?

This depends on the type of anaesthesia used. With general anaesthesia, you will be fully asleep. With sedation or regional anaesthesia, you may be awake but comfortable.

Will I feel pain?

Anaesthesia is used to prevent pain during surgery. Pain management after the procedure will also be discussed with you.

Will I wake up during surgery?

This is extremely uncommon (only 0.1-0.2% of incidents). Your level of anaesthesia is continuously monitored and adjusted throughout the procedure.

Will a spinal anaesthesia paralyse me?

This is a very rare side effect.

What happens after surgery?

You will be moved to a post-anaesthetic area where your condition will be monitored as the anaesthesia wears off. You may feel drowsy or slightly disoriented, which is normal.

NB!! Take note that no driving or managing heavy equipment is allowed for 24 hours after any form of general or sedation anaesthesia.

Why are there separate accounts?

Refer to the billing section.
